1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair

 

For the fourth time running, the leading international art fair dedicated to Contemporary African Art, the 1:54 Art Fair, returns to London from the 6-9th of October 2016.

With bi-annual editions in both London and New York, 1:54 stands for the fifty-four countries that make up the African continent, a continent that hosts a variety of growing talent and creativity. Its sustainable and dynamic platform is fully engaged in providing art lovers in contemporary dialogue and exchange.

The 1:54 Contemporary Art Fair is the brainchild of Touria El Glaoui who came up with the idea in 2013.

Showcasing close to 40 exhibitors, the event will present over 130 African and African diaspora artists across the East, South and West Wings of Somerset House with work from known greats such as the late Malian photographer Malick Sidibé (with this being his first major UK solo show) and Ethiopia’s Girma Berta.

The 1:54 London 2016 fair will include a plethora of activities, which include an educational, and artistic program, FORUM, curated by Koyo Kouoh as well as lectures, film screenings and panel discussions with international curators, artists and art professionals.
